Next Text (2006) was a two hour performance designed for 1.60 Insurgent Space Project (a project centering on the idea of using public space as a place for making and exhibiting art), and the city of Tirana, highlighting Short Message Service (SMS) as the cheapest and thus most used telecommunication system in Tirana.

Starting at the Central Train Station (the artist’s first arrival point in the city) the artist walked in the city by following text messages with directions (left, right, straight, or back) sent to her mobile phone by strangers located in a bar in Tirana. Her position was visualised on a map, so that the strangers in the bar were able to see where she was going (as a moving line on a map) and interact with her in real-time. In doing so, she became a puppet, allowing other people and their knowledge, information and memory of the city to tell her where to go and what to see.

The performance investigates questions about trust, decision-making, control, and freedom.
